Maui, Hawaii Vacation

All we can say is WOW after visiting Hawaii for the first time earlier this month. June and I were long-overdue for a relaxing beach vacation, so we chose Maui as our destination of choice this time around, and it’s safe to say that we were not disappointed. This had to be one of our all-time favorite vacations next to our three-week climbing honeymoon in Thailand.

Maui is a tropical paradise. Although we spent a lot of time lounging on the beach, chilling out with some beachside reading, and sipping on refreshing beverages, we also got out and explored the island too. We stayed at the Maui Prince Hotel in Mekena (just south of Wailea) and were treated to some luxurious accommodations which included an incredible western view right off of our room’s balcony — truly spectacular sunsets right from our room! The Maui Prince’s beach was also pristine and not too crowed, which was nice considering how crazy it can be in the ever-popular Grand Wailea area a few minutes north. We treated ourselves to one fine dining meal per day — ate dinner outdoors watching the sunset almost every night — and mixed that with attempts to get some more local cuisine in-between — like at Da Kitchen where the portions were Hawaiian-sized for sure!

We also traveled up to North Maui for a day to hang and walk on the beaches at Kaanapali, and on the way back stopped at an inspiring Buddhist temple (see pics above). On another day, we traveled around to the east side on the road to Hana where we stopped to get lunch at Mama’s Fish House, watched surfers, kite boarders, and windsurfers at Ho’okipa, and topped it off with some fantastic waterfall sightseeing and private swimming hole action (see pics). Overall, our Maui vacation was ridiculously fun and relaxing, and there’s no doubt we’ll be returning to Hawaii again in the not too distant future — next time, we’re thinking about going to Kauai. Enjoy the pictures above and movie links below for a first-hand look at our trip.
